Replica slate wagon arrives in Valley
THE FIRST OF MANY
The Glyn Valley Tramway Group’s first replica vehicle - a one-ton Slate Wagon - arrived in Glyn during August.
The Group is now working on a replica one-ton Open Wagon, considerable numbers of which were used on the tramway to transport granite from Hendre Quarry to Chirk - the staple traffic on the old line.
Our pictures show the loading of the wagon for its journey to Glyn, using a specially-constructed loading ramp, and members of the intrepid removal team, including John G. White (right) who organised the whole undertaking.
