Great honour for GVT Group Member
GROUP NOW HAS ITS OWN BARD!
Group member Sydney Davies of Glyn has recently been accorded the honour of membership of the Gorsedd of the Bards at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.   The Gorsedd of Bards is an association whose members consist of poets, writers, musicians, artists and individuals who have made a distinguished contribution to the Welsh
Mrs. Davies - wife of Group Trustee and committee member, Theo Davies - was one of just 17 people throughout Wales who were awarded the honour at the 2008 National Eisteddfod held in Cardiff during August.   Our picture shows her wearing the traditional ceremonial green Bard’s robe at the investiture ceremony.

Sydney was recognised for her work with the Urdd, a Welsh youth movement which organises a range of activities for young people across Wales.   Other members of the Gorsedd include Welsh opera star, Bryn Terfel, England cricketer, Robert Croft, and ex-Welsh rugby star, Gareth Edwards.

The Group extends to Mrs. Davies our hearty congratulations on the award, which we say is richly deserved.
